Kindergarten

Kindergarten is a specially-designed learning window in the life of every child. Every kindergartener is a natural scientist, fearlessly asking questions about the world around them. True Light Shines Academy provides a God-centered, nurturing environment as they learn about the Bible, themselves, their families, and families around the world. They develop reading and listening skills, story structure, number sense, measurement, technology skills, and Spanish. They will collect data, recognize patterns, and classify objects---all while retaining the understanding that learning is fun. Small class sizes allow for tailoring lessons to meet the needs of individual students. Academically, they are enabled to learn at their own rate, as well as participating in traditional kindergarten experiences: painting, stories, music, gross motor skills (dancing, jumping, skipping), and play interaction.

Teachers are experienced educators who use a combination of teaching strategies, techniques, and resources to ensure success for all students. The North Carolina Standard Course of Study is used as a minimum guide in the areas of language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.
